Gor Mahia players promised Sh5 million bonus if they win Premier League title

Gor Mahia players promised Sh5 million bonus if they win Premier League title

Players and technical staff at Gor Mahia have been promised a huge cash reward if they win this season’s Kenyan Premier League title.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier announced that the team will receive a Sh5 million bonus if they are crowned champions at the end of the season.

The bonus will be shared among the players and the technical bench as motivation ahead of the final two matches of the campaign.

The announcement comes at a crucial time as Gor Mahia move closer to winning a record 22nd league title. K’Ogalo strengthened their title hopes after beating Murang’a Seal 3-1 on Sunday, a result that left them four points clear at the top with only two matches remaining.

Gor Mahia now need just one win from their remaining games against Mara Sugar and Nairobi United to officially secure the championship.

According to a statement released by the club, Rachier made the promise during a meeting with the squad to encourage them to finish the season strongly.

The chairman also doubled the match-winning bonuses for the last two league matches. Players will now earn Sh10,000 for every win as the club pushes to wrap up the title race early.

Second-placed AFC Leopards are still chasing Gor Mahia and hoping for a late slip-up. Leopards have 64 points while Gor Mahia lead the standings with 68 points after 32 matches.

Gor Mahia are aiming to reclaim the league title after missing out last season when Kenya Police FC won the championship.
