FKF clarifies position on Chapa Dimba tournament ahead of season 5 launch

FKF clarifies position on Chapa Dimba tournament ahead of season 5 launch

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has moved to calm concerns surrounding the upcoming Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 5, assuring stakeholders that the popular youth tournament will go on as planned.

In a statement, the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) said it fully supports the competition but stressed the need for proper procedures to be followed before the official launch set for Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The federation revealed that it held a consultative meeting with Safaricom, where both sides agreed to work together to ensure the tournament is conducted in line with FKF rules and regulations.

FKF noted that Safaricom has committed to a more structured and collaborative approach moving forward.

FKF emphasised that it is not against the Chapa Dimba tournament, which has played a key role in developing young football talent across the country. The federation praised Safaricom for its continued investment in grassroots football, saying the competition has contributed greatly to youth empowerment and the growth of the sport in Kenya.

However, the NEC insisted that all necessary approvals must be secured to ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance in the running of the tournament.

The federation also reassured its league partners, including SportPesa and Azam, of its commitment to honouring existing agreements while creating a stable environment for all sponsors to achieve their objectives.

FKF maintained that its main priority is to protect the interests of all stakeholders, especially young players who benefit most from such initiatives.

Chapa Dimba has successfully run for four seasons, producing some of the country’s most promising football talents. FKF now says it is working closely with partners to ensure Season 5 builds on that success and delivers even greater impact.

The federation reiterated its commitment to supporting partnerships that promote football development, as long as they align with its constitution and established guidelines.
