Tusker kept their hopes of lifting the Mozzart Bet Cup alive after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars, sealed by a stoppage-time goal from Ibrahim Joshua at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
With the match heading towards extra time, Joshua emerged as the difference-maker, scoring in the 92nd minute to send the Brewers into the semi-finals and break Ulinzi hearts.
The game had started evenly, with both sides showing caution, but Tusker struck first in the 25th minute.
Erick Kapaito capitalised on a rebound after a strong effort was parried by goalkeeper Ricks Omondi, giving the visitors an early advantage.
Ulinzi Stars responded with determination and were rewarded just before halftime. Staphod Odhiambo finished from close range following a well-delivered corner, bringing the match level at 1-1 going into the break.
In the second half, both teams tightened their defence, limiting clear chances. Tusker’s Ian Simiyu remained a constant threat on the wing, while Ulinzi also pushed forward in search of a winner.
Just when the game seemed destined for extra time, Simiyu produced a brilliant run down the flank, beating his defender before setting up Joshua, who made no mistake in front of goal.
The win sends Tusker into the last four and strengthens their bid for a domestic double, while Ulinzi bow out after a spirited performance.
Tusker will now shift focus to the semi-finals, with confidence high after their late heroics.
