KCB face Uganda’s Black Pirates in Enterprise Cup quarter-final

KCB face Uganda’s Black Pirates in Enterprise Cup quarter-final

KCB Rugby will be aiming to keep their Enterprise Cup dream alive when they take on Uganda’s Black Pirates in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash on Saturday at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The five-time champions head into the match full of confidence after a commanding 57-17 win over Daystar Falcons in their recent Kenya Cup outing.

That strong performance has boosted morale within the squad as they shift focus to the knockout competition.

However, KCB know the challenge ahead will not be easy. Playing away in Uganda presents a different test, especially against a Pirates side known for its strength at home. Assistant coach Jacob Ojee has warned his players against complacency, insisting the team is fully aware of the threat.

“We are coming off a strong performance, which gives us confidence, but knockout rugby is always different. Pirates are a quality side, especially at home, and we cannot underestimate them. The boys understand what is at stake,” said Ojee.

KCB will also have to cope without several key players and head coach Andrew Amonde, who are away on national duty at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Montevideo.

The absence of experienced names means other squad members will need to step up and deliver in a high-pressure encounter.

Players such as Miheso Eric, Andy Cole Omolo, Tyson Maina, and Brian Wahinya are expected to play key roles as the bankers look to overcome the challenge and book a place in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, another KCB-affiliated side, KCB Kobs, will be in action against Nondescripts at the ASK Showground in Nakuru in another Enterprise Cup fixture.

Kobs assistant coach Keith Sseruyange remains confident his team can handle the pressure of playing away from home.

“It is always tough away, but we are ready. We respect Nondescripts, but if we stay disciplined and take our chances, we believe we can get a good result,” he said.

With both matches carrying high stakes, KCB teams will be determined to rise to the occasion and keep their hopes of lifting the Enterprise Cup firmly on track.
