Nakuru’s John Kamaisi produced a calm and confident performance to win the 2026 NCBA Kiambu Open at Kiambu Golf Club, tightening the race for the Kenya Amateur Golf Circuit Order of Merit.
It was a victory built on patience, timing, and a strong finish. Kamaisi held his nerve through three competitive rounds to finish on 3-over par 219, sealing the title at the demanding Kiambu Golf Club.
He opened with rounds of 72 and 75 before delivering a steady final round of even par 72. His turning point came in the middle of the last round, where he struck three key birdies in a row on holes 11, 12, and 13. That burst pushed him back into control after earlier mistakes threatened his lead.
Despite dropping shots later in the round, Kamaisi stayed composed while his closest challengers also stumbled, allowing him to hold on and secure victory in a field of 82 golfers, with 32 making the cut after 36 holes.
The win earned him Sh92,500 and lifted him to second place in the Order of Merit standings, bringing him closer to leader Jay Sandhu as the season intensifies.
Behind Kamaisi, Rwanda’s Felix Dusabe finished second, while Ebill Omollo of Vet Lab took third in a tightly contested final leaderboard.
Speaking after his win, Kamaisi said his confidence came from familiarity with the course and strong preparation, adding that key birdies at the right moment made the difference.
Attention now shifts to the next leg of the Kenya Amateur Golf Circuit, where the battle for points is expected to heat up even further as the season progresses.
