CAF President Patrice Motsepe has expressed strong confidence in East Africa’s readiness to successfully host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, following high-level talks on preparations for the tournament.
The remarks came during a key meeting in Cairo between Confederation of African Football (CAF) leadership and a joint delegation from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, led by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya.
The discussions focused on progress towards AFCON 2027, with the three East African nations reaffirming their commitment to deliver a world-class tournament that will showcase Africa’s football strength, hospitality, and infrastructure development.
Motsepe noted that the Pamoja bid presents a golden opportunity for the region to demonstrate excellence both on and off the pitch, while boosting the profile of African football globally.
Kenya highlighted ongoing infrastructure developments, including the near-completion of the 60,000-seater Talanta Stadium and major upgrades at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani to meet international standards.
The CAF meeting was also attended by football federation officials from the three countries and members of Kenya’s Local Organizing Committee, all aligning on preparations for a successful tournament in 2027.
