Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia have received a timely boost after striker Felix Oluoch resumed light training following a lengthy injury layoff.
The forward has been out of action for several months after undergoing a serious knee operation earlier this season. Oluoch suffered a torn meniscus and osteochondral damage, an injury affecting both the knee cartilage and the bone beneath it.
According to Gor Mahia’s lead team doctor Brian Odongo, the striker is making encouraging progress under close supervision from the club’s medical and fitness staff.
Odongo said Oluoch has already started light training sessions as part of a gradual recovery plan aimed at helping him regain full match fitness safely.
The club’s medical team is focusing on strength building, controlled movement and carefully managing the load on the player’s knee before he returns to competitive football.
Oluoch’s return comes at an important stage of the season for Gor Mahia, who are chasing another league title. Before his injury, the striker had scored seven goals and was among the club’s top performers.
Despite missing one of their key attackers, Gor Mahia have remained strong in the title race and currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table.
Head coach Charles Akonnor will now be hoping Oluoch can fully recover in time to strengthen the squad during the final stretch of the campaign.
