Kenya is assured of a team in the African Club Championships final in Egypt after both Kenya Pipeline (KPC) and KCB booked their places in the semis after winning respective quarter-final matches on Monday.
KPC produced a strong and confident performance to defeat rivals while KCB also put up a dominant show against Cameroon’s MKE.
The two Kenyan rivals will now face-off in the semi-finals which means they will be a Kenyan club in the final.
In what was billed as a Nairobi derby clash on foreign soil, KPC showed their class early, taking control of the match with a 25-17 win in the opening set. They followed it up with a dominant 25-12 victory in the second set, underlining their superiority with sharp attacks and solid defence.
DCI responded in the third set, showing resilience to take it 25-21 and briefly shift the momentum. However, KPC quickly regained control in the fourth set, sealing the match with a convincing 25-16 win to wrap up a 3-1 victory.
The Oilers’ success was built on strong team coordination, disciplined defending, and effective serving throughout the match, which kept their opponents under constant pressure.
On their part KCB also won in straight sets of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-21.
