Motorsport Kenya plans elections and reforms in bid to reset the sport

Motorsport Kenya is planning a major reset of the sport, with elections and governance reforms at the centre of its new strategy.

The body, which has declared itself the lawful and legitimate governing authority, says it will hold elections once the Office of the Sports Registrar completes its registration process. This step is expected to pave the way for a new leadership structure that will guide the sport moving forward.

Interim chairperson Carl Tundo says the elections will be crucial in restoring order, strengthening leadership, and ensuring that motorsport in Kenya is run in a transparent and accountable manner.

The federation is also pushing for key changes aimed at improving structure, accountability, and professionalism within the sport. Officials say the reforms are long overdue and are necessary to rebuild trust among drivers, teams, sponsors, and fans. By putting in place clear systems and proper management, Motorsport Kenya hopes to create a stable environment where the sport can thrive.

At the same time, the federation is looking beyond leadership changes by investing in the future of the sport. A strong focus has been placed on identifying and developing young talent from across the country.

Secretary General Enock Bengi says Motorsport Kenya will use the sport as a platform to nurture talent among the young generation and give them opportunities to grow within motorsport. He adds that creating pathways for young people will not only strengthen the sport locally but also help Kenya produce competitive drivers on the international stage.

The plans also include working closely with stakeholders to unify the motorsport community, which has in the past been affected by divisions and leadership wrangles. Leaders believe that unity will play a key role in driving the sport forward and attracting more investment into the sector.

With elections, reforms, and a focus on youth development, Motorsport Kenya is hoping to usher in a new era. The federation remains confident that these changes will help rebuild the sport’s image and position Kenya as a strong player in motorsport both regionally and globally.
