Fresh from an impressive run on the continental stage, KCB women volleyball team is back in action in the Kenya Volleyball Federation league with a packed four-day fixture at Nyayo Stadium.
The team, which finished as silver medalists at the 2026 Africa Club Championship in Egypt, will now turn its attention to the local league as it seeks to bounce back and chase domestic glory.
KCB will begin their campaign against Post Bank on Thursday evening, before facing Kenyatta University on Friday. They will then take on A-Plus VC on Saturday morning before wrapping up their fixtures with a tough clash against Kenya Army on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the matches, team captain Mercy Moim expressed confidence in the squad following their strong performance in Egypt. She noted that the team picked valuable lessons from the continental tournament and is determined to apply them in the local league.
Moim added that the squad remains strong and is focused on delivering consistent performances throughout the fixtures.
They head into the matches with a blend of experienced players and young talent, a combination that has been key to their recent success. Despite falling short in the Africa Club Championship final against Egyptian giants Al Ahly, the team is motivated to turn that disappointment into success on the local scene.
Head coach Japheth Munala believes the team has what it takes to compete for top honours. He says the technical bench has been working to address the gaps identified during the continental tournament, adding that once those areas are improved, the team will be ready to challenge for both the league title and the Kenya Cup.
