Harambee Stars midfielder Austin Odhiambo has begun life in Lebanon after joining nine-time champions Nejmeh SC, ending a successful four-year spell at Gor Mahia as the Kenyan giants receive full payment for his multi-million transfer.
Odhiambo has officially started training with Lebanese side Nejmeh SC, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his football career abroad. The former Gor Mahia playmaker attended his first training session in Beirut on Thursday, where he was warmly welcomed by his new teammates.
Nicknamed ‘Rolls Royce’ for his smooth style of play, Odhiambo leaves Gor Mahia after four trophy-filled years. During his time at the club, he played a key role in winning back-to-back league titles and grew into one of the most influential midfielders in Kenyan football.
Nejmeh SC confirmed his arrival on social media, sharing a video of the midfielder being introduced to the squad amid cheers and applause.
The move is reported to be worth around Sh8 million, a deal that Gor Mahia officials say has been fully settled. Club secretary general Nick Arum confirmed that all procedures were completed and payment received in full, giving Odhiambo the green light to move.
At Nejmeh, Odhiambo will link up with fellow Kenyans Masud Juma and Anthony Akumu, adding a familiar touch to his new environment.
The Beirut-based club is currently second in the Lebanese Premier League, just two points behind leaders Al-Ansar.
Known for his creativity, vision and eye for goal, Odhiambo is expected to strengthen Nejmeh’s title push as they aim to reclaim the league crown they last won in 2024.
As he settles into life in Lebanon, Kenyan fans will be watching closely, hoping the Harambee Stars midfielder can shine on the international stage and continue flying the Kenyan flag abroad.
