The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) enters a crucial stage on Wednesday with four rescheduled matches set to shape the final standings ahead of the last round of the 2025/26 season.
At the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, newly crowned league champions Gor Mahia will take on Mara Sugar in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the day.
The match was originally planned for Sunday but was moved after a Sports Disputes Tribunal ruling following a disagreement over the venue. Mara Sugar had wanted the game played in Mwea, but Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed Homa Bay as the official venue.
Although Gor Mahia have already sealed the league title with two games remaining and Mara Sugar are safe from relegation, both teams are still expected to put up a strong fight.
Mara Sugar have enjoyed an impressive season and recorded positive results against top clubs including AFC Leopards, Tusker, Shabana and Ulinzi Stars. Gor Mahia, meanwhile, will aim to continue their winning momentum despite already securing the championship.
Elsewhere, the relegation battle takes center stage as Kenya Police host Kariobangi Sharks at the Police Sacco Grounds.
Police are chasing a top-three finish, while Kariobangi Sharks are fighting to avoid relegation. Sharks sit in the drop zone with 34 points, just one point behind Ulinzi Stars, making Wednesday’s match a must-win encounter for William Muluya’s side.
Historically, Kenya Police have dominated the fixture, winning five of the previous nine league meetings.
At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Ulinzi Stars will battle Tusker in another key clash.
Ulinzi are desperate for points to secure their KPL status after their recent comeback win over Mathare United. Tusker, on the other hand, are looking to end a disappointing season on a positive note despite inconsistent performances in recent matches.
In the other fixture of the day, already relegated Sofapaka will face KCB at the Kasarani Annex Stadium as both teams play for pride.
All matches will kick off at 3pm.
