Top Kenyan Premier League (KPL) club bosses held a high-level meeting with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials in Nairobi on Tuesday to discuss plans aimed at transforming the management of the local league.
The meeting focused on proposals to establish an independent body that will run the KPL starting next season. The move is expected to strengthen governance, improve professionalism and enhance the overall management structure of the competition.
Stakeholders described the talks as positive, with both FKF and club representatives agreeing to continue consultations before the proposal is finalised.
Among those who attended the meeting were chairmen from major clubs including Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, AFC Leopards chairman Boniface Ambani, KCB’s Azu Ogola, Kariobangi Sharks’ Robert Maoga, Shabana’s Jared Nivaton and Tusker’s Charles Gacheru.
Officials from Ulinzi Stars, Kenya Police, Bidco United and Nairobi United were also present during the discussions.
Meanwhile, Mathare United, Sofapaka, Mara Sugar and APS Bomet were represented by their Chief Executive Officers.
However, Bandari, Posta Rangers, Murang’a Seal and Kakamega Homeboyz did not attend the meeting.
The latest talks come at a time when football stakeholders in Kenya are pushing for reforms aimed at improving league operations, attracting sponsors and making the local competition more competitive
