Malkia Strikers strike down Cameroon to book place in African Nations Championship final

Malkia Strikers strike down Cameroon to book place in African Nations Championship final

Kenya’s national women volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, have booked their place in the final of the 2026 Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship after sweeping Cameroon 3-0 in a dominant semi-final clash at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi on Thursday night.

The defending champions produced a composed performance against their long-time rivals, winning all three sets to keep their title defence firmly on course.

Kenya took control early and maintained their advantage despite Cameroon’s attempts to fight back. The decisive third set saw the Malkia Strikers hold their nerve to secure a 25-20 victory and complete the straight-sets win.

The result is another major milestone for Kenya, who are chasing a record-extending 11th continental title.

Malkia Strikers will now face Egypt in Friday’s final, September 4, with the Egyptians having secured their place in the championship match after defeating Rwanda 3-0 in their semi-final.

Kenya will be hoping to successfully defend the title they won in 2023, when they defeated Egypt in straight sets in the final.

The highly anticipated final will also carry added significance as the teams battle for continental supremacy and qualification opportunities linked to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

For the Malkia Strikers, attention now shifts to one final hurdle as they seek to add another chapter to their remarkable African volleyball legacy.
