KCB face Christie Sevens test without key players

KCB face Christie Sevens test without key players

KCB RFC will be without five key players, including captain Vincent Onyala, when the bankers compete at the Christie Sevens, the final leg of the National Sevens Circuit, in Nairobi this weekend.

Onyala, George Oroo, Festus Shiasi, Nigel Amaitsa and Samuel Asati are set to represent Kenya at the inaugural Ultimate Sevens Championship in Cardiff, Wales.

Their absence presents a major challenge for KCB as they bid to retain the National Sevens Circuit title, but Kibabii University head coach Peter Wamoto remains confident that the bankers have enough depth to mount a strong challenge.

Wamoto says the experience gained by Kenyan players competing at high-level international tournaments such as the Ultimate Sevens Championship will be crucial in strengthening the national sevens team.

He believes increased exposure to top opposition will help players develop and ultimately contribute to building a stronger Kenya Sevens side.

The Christie Sevens will bring the curtain down on this year's National Sevens Circuit, with teams expected to battle for the final points and a strong finish to the campaign.
