Kenyan darts player David Munyua has secured his place at the 2027 Paddy Power World Darts Championships, earning a second consecutive appearance at the prestigious tournament.
Munyua booked his ticket through the African Darts Group Northern Africa qualifier held in Nairobi on Sunday.
The 30-year-old produced a strong campaign before edging fellow Kenyan Evans Njuguna 8-7 in a closely contested final to claim the qualification spot.
Munyua began his campaign with a commanding 6-0 victory over Okalany Robert Clegg in the quarter-finals before defeating Peter Wanjii 7-5 in the semi-finals.
He then overcame Njuguna in a dramatic final, winning 8-7 to secure his return to Alexandra Palace in London.
Munyua, popularly known as “Why Not?”, made history at the 2026 World Darts Championship by becoming the first Kenyan player to compete at the prestigious tournament.
His debut campaign also produced a major upset after he fought back from two sets down to defeat 2024 World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.
His run eventually ended in the next round after a straight-sets defeat to Kevin Doets.
Munyua will now get another opportunity to compete against the world's leading darts players when the championship takes place later this year.
The PDC has also introduced a Southern Africa qualifying route, with the tournament scheduled for November, ensuring that at least two African players will feature at the World Championship.
