Kenya Police FC have sacked head coach Nicholas Muyoti and his assistant John Barasa after just two matches into the new Sportpesa League season, bringing fresh uncertainty to the club’s technical bench.
The Law Enforcers confirmed the development on Wednesday, October 21, saying the two coaches would pursue CAF A coaching licences, although the timing comes after a disappointing start to their league campaign.
Police opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Migori Youth before suffering a 2-1 defeat to AFC Leopards on Tuesday, leaving the club searching for its first victory ahead of their upcoming fixture against Mombasa United.
In its statement, the club explained that Muyoti and Baraza had joined with an understanding that they would be allowed to advance their coaching qualifications whenever an opportunity arose.
Both coaches hold CAF B licences and have now requested to undertake the higher-level course, with the club approving their decision.
Kenya Police said coaching requirements in the top flight were evolving, adding that a CAF A licence could soon become mandatory for coaches managing in the Sportpesa League.
Muyoti took charge in January 2026, initially joining Kenya Police as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach.
During his tenure, he guided the team to third place in last season’s Sportpesa League, collecting 55 points, 14 behind champions Gor Mahia. He also led Police to the FKF Cup final, where they finished runners-up to Tusker FC.
Those achievements had established Police as serious contenders in domestic competitions, making the latest coaching change a significant development as the club seeks to maintain its competitiveness.
The club’s board and management praised both coaches for their commitment, professionalism and work ethic, wishing them success in their continued coaching education.
Kenya Police added that it would announce its next course of action in due course, taking into account its ambitions locally and internationally.
With Mombasa United next on the schedule, attention will now turn to who takes charge of the team and how the Law Enforcers respond to the changes on their technical bench.
