Naivasha set for epic FC 26 East Africa Biggest Tournament Battle as top gamers eye Sh280,000 prize pool

Naivasha will turn into East Africa’s esports capital this weekend as over 100 top gamers from across the region gather for the FC 26 East Africa Tournament, a high-stakes competition offering a total prize pool of Sh280,000.

The ultimate champion will walk away with Sh90,000, while others will battle for glory, rankings, and recognition.

The event is organized by Rangers Kenya in partnership with Nilesh Gorasia, Mombasa Cement, and Kili Games Tanzania, and has attracted gamers from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Nigeria—making it one of the most competitive esports events in the region.

Sponsors for the event include Mombasa Cement, Nilesh Gorasia, Kili Games Tanzania, Oscar Scartek Limited, Sovev Studio Branding, Fulchand Manek & B Brothers, and Simon Seda 3D Entertainments.

Leading the Kenyan charge will be top-ranked gamer Joash Ogutu, famously known as Jojo Depay, alongside his Rangers Esports teammates Moses Thumbi (Lord 7) and Vincent Odinga (Chibu). The trio will be banking on home advantage to keep the title in Kenya.

“I’m ready for the challenge,” said Jojo Depay. “This tournament brings together the best talents from across Africa, and it’s a great opportunity to test ourselves. I’ve prepared well and I’m confident I can deliver. Esports is no longer just a hobby—it’s a real career path for us now.”

Rangers Esports Director Mark Libabu said his dream is to see esports grow into a recognized and sustainable industry in Kenya. “Gaming is fast becoming a source of income for many young people,” he said. “We are passionate about turning this passion into a profession, and that’s why we continue to invest in tournaments like this.”

Tournament director Caroline Nyambura, fondly known as Mama Selina, praised the event’s progress. “This tournament is about more than just gaming; it’s about creating opportunities for the youth. We’ve worked tirelessly to make sure everything is perfect—from logistics to sponsorships,” she said.

Sponsors for the event include Mombasa Cement, Nilesh Gorasia, Kili Games Tanzania, Oscar Scartek Limited, Sovev Studio Branding, Fulchand Manek & B Brothers, and Simon Seda 3D Entertainments.

The action kicks off on Saturday, promising fierce matches, vibrant crowds, and a celebration of esports excellence in East Africa.
