Nigeria edged past Kenya in a tense and entertaining men’s beach volleyball match, winning 2–1 at the 2025 African Youth Games in Luanda, Angola on Sunday.
The closely fought encounter saw Nigeria take the first set 21–19 after a strong start, but Kenya responded with determination to level the match by winning the second set 21–18. The result set up an exciting tie-break as both teams battled for control on the sand.
In the decisive third set, Nigeria showed greater composure and consistency at key moments, pulling away to claim a 15–10 victory and seal the match.
The contest highlighted the growing strength of youth beach volleyball in Africa, with both sides displaying skill, energy and resilience throughout the game. Kenya impressed with their fighting spirit, while Nigeria’s calm finish proved the difference in the end.
The African Youth Games continue in Luanda through December 14, with more action expected as teams compete for continental glory.
