Kenyan clubs will be among the teams chasing continental glory at the 47th edition of the CAVB Men’s African Club Championship set to be held in Kigali, Rwanda from April 21.
Kenya will be represented by three teams Equity Bank Volleyball Club, General Service Unit (GSU), and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) as they prepare to face some of the best clubs across Africa.
The championship has attracted 24 clubs from 14 countries underlining the growth of men’s volleyball on the continent.
Hosts Rwanda will field four teams, including APR, Kepler Volleyball Club, Police Volleyball Club, and Rwanda Energy Group.
Egypt will also be strongly represented by African volleyball giants Al Ahly and Petrojet Sporting Club, while Cameroon has entered three teams. Uganda will have two representatives — Nemo Stars and Sport-S Volleyball Club.
Other nations set to compete include Cape Verde, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Burundi.
The tournament is expected to provide stiff competition as the Kenyan clubs aim to fly the country’s flag high and challenge for the continental title in Kigali.
