Kenya is stepping up efforts to modernize its sports sector following high-level talks with international investors at the Africa Forward Summit.
The discussions focused on new ways to improve sports infrastructure, technology, and management across the country.
On Tuesday, Kenya hosted a delegation from France led by Sophie Lorant, President of France Sports Expertise, where both sides explored stronger cooperation to grow sports in the country.
The engagement was led by the Principal Secretary for Sports, Elijah Mwangi, who spearheaded discussions on strengthening partnerships with international sports investors and experts.
At the centre of the talks was the introduction of FIFA-approved VAR technology in Kenyan stadiums, upgrading pitch equipment, and improving stadium design and engineering to meet modern standards.
Officials also discussed expanding investment into different sports to improve both performance and refereeing standards in local competitions.
Kenya is currently rolling out a major plan to construct and upgrade sports facilities across all 47 counties as part of its long-term sports development strategy.
Speaking during the engagement, government officials welcomed the commitment from international partners, saying collaboration will help raise the quality of sports in the country.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the State Department for Sports, including Secretary Administration Evans Achoki and Deputy Director Elizabeth Wamalwa.
Also present were Sports Kenya Director General Timothy Kilimo and AFCON 2027 Local Organizing Committee CEO Anthony Lung’aho.
The government says it remains open to more partnerships aimed at transforming Kenya into a stronger sports nation through modern technology and infrastructure development.
