Gor Mahia have officially been awarded a 1–1 draw against Nairobi United after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee issued its ruling on two abandoned Kenyan League matches on Friday.
In a statement released by FKF, the committee confirmed that the Nairobi United versus Gor Mahia match was abandoned due to force majeure. In line with FKF rules and regulations, the score at the time of abandonment was upheld, meaning both sides will take one point each.
The committee further noted that any cases of misconduct during the match have been referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee for further action where necessary.
In the other abandoned fixture, Ulinzi Stars against Murang’a SEAL, the committee ruled that the match was stopped after Ulinzi Stars refused to resume play.
As a result, the match was awarded to Murang’a SEAL, with the official score recorded as a 2–0 victory.
FKF also confirmed that the matter involving Ulinzi Stars has been forwarded to both the Disciplinary Committee and the Referees Committee to determine any applicable sanctions.
The rulings bring clarity to the two fixtures as the Premier League season continues, allowing teams to move forward with certainty.
