‎Kenya’s Odada finally makes debut for Romania’s UTA Arad ‎after Fifa ban ends

abc

Kenyan international Richard Odada has finally made his long-awaited debut for Romanian top-tier club UTA Arad, ending months of frustration caused by a Fifa-imposed transfer ban.

‎Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada stepped onto the pitch for UTA Arad for the first time at the end of November, marking his debut more than three months after signing with the club.

The 26-year-old joined the Romanian side from Scotland's Dundee United in September but was forced to wait due to administrative hurdles.

‎UTA Arad had been under a Fifa transfer ban following unresolved salary disputes with several foreign players released in the summer.

Although Odada secured a valid work permit shortly after his arrival, the Fifa sanctions made him ineligible to play until the ban was lifted.

‎Speaking about the midfielder’s delayed debut, UTA Arad head coach Adrian Mihalcea praised Odada’s patience and professionalism throughout the difficult period.

“Odada is an intelligent guy and understood the situation. He was disappointed, of course, but never let it show in training. The way he carries himself and trains is exceptional,” Mihalcea said.

‎Odada’s debut brings an end to a challenging stretch for the former AFC Leopards and Philadelphia Union midfielder, who is now eager to make his mark in Romania’s Liga 1.
