KCB climbed to the top of Sportpesa League table after a thrilling 4-2 win over APS Bomet, while Bandari and Posta Rangers played out a goalless draw in Tuesday’s matches at Kasarani.
KCB moved to 21 points thanks to an impressive second-half comeback that turned a difficult afternoon into a big statement in the title race.
APS Bomet, fighting to escape the lower end of the table, showed early intent and took the lead in the 21st minute when Philip Wasai finished calmly from close range.
The bankers responded quickly, with Kelvin Etemesi pulling KCB level in the 29th minute. However, Bomet were not done yet. Wasai struck again four minutes later to restore their lead, sending APS Bomet into the break with a 2-1 lead.
After halftime, KCB returned with renewed energy and purpose. Etemesi once again led the fightback, scoring his second of the match in the 51st minute to make it 2-2.
Just two minutes later, Richard Omondi gave KCB the lead with a powerful strike that left the Bomet goalkeeper with no chance.
KCB then took full control of the match, and Etemesi completed a fine hat-trick in the 61st minute with a superb long-range effort to seal a convincing 4-2 victory.
The result sees KCB take over top spot in the league standings, boosting their confidence as the season gathers pace, while APS Bomet remain under pressure at the bottom end of the table.
Earlier in the day, Bandari missed a chance to climb higher up the table after being held to a 0-0 draw by Posta Rangers at the Kasarani Annex.
The result left both sides sharing the points in a cagey encounter.
