Motsepe set to speak on AFCON 2027 preparation at Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe is expected in Nairobi on Monday and Tuesday for the Africa Forward Summit, where he will also hold key talks on preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Motsepe will attend the summit on May 11 and 12 and is scheduled to speak on Monday afternoon during the high-level gathering that brings together leaders from across Africa to discuss innovation, partnerships and development.

Kenya is among the three East African nations set to host the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations alongside Tanzania and Uganda. The tournament will be the first AFCON to be jointly hosted by the three countries and is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events ever staged in the region.

During his visit, Motsepe is also expected to meet senior government and football officials from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to review the progress of preparations for the continental showpiece.

CAF said the Africa Forward Summit aims to showcase Africa’s innovation and strengthen cooperation through transformative partnerships and shared solutions for the continent’s growth.

The visit by the CAF boss comes as Kenya continues to step up infrastructure and organizational plans ahead of AFCON 2027, with football stakeholders hoping the tournament will help boost sports development, tourism and investment in the region.

Motsepe’s presence in Nairobi is also seen as a major boost to East Africa’s readiness to successfully host the prestigious competition.
