Shabana, Police set for FKF Cup quarterfinal clash at Gusii Stadium

Shabana, Police set for FKF Cup quarterfinal clash at Gusii Stadium

Shabana and Kenya Police are set for a thrilling showdown this Saturday as they face off in the FKF Cup quarterfinal at Gusii Stadium.

The match carries huge importance, with both teams chasing a place in the semifinals and keeping their hopes of silverware alive this season.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides in a short period, after they played out a goalless draw in their recent league encounter.

With league leaders Gor Mahia and rivals AFC Leopards dominating the Kenyan Premier League title race, the cup now offers the best chance for both Shabana and Police to win a trophy.

Shabana, also known as Tore Bobe, are eager to win their first major title since returning to the top flight in 2023. They reached the last eight after beating Kuta Collections in the Round of 16 and will be banking on strong home support to push them over the line.

On the other hand, Kenya Police won the tournament in 2024. They booked their place in the quarterfinals after edging out giant killers BB Bread.

Police have shown improvement under head coach Nicholas Muyoti, especially in defence, making them a tough side to break down. Their solid backline will be key in stopping Shabana’s attacking threats.

One player to watch for Police is forward Yves Koutiama, who has been in fine form since joining mid-season and has troubled many defenders. For Shabana, defender Wycliffe Omondi will play a crucial role both in defense and attack, as he looks to stop Koutiama while also contributing goals.

With both teams eyeing glory and a possible ticket to continental football, fans can expect a tense and exciting encounter as the FKF Cup quarterfinal action takes centre stage.
