APS Bomet boost survival hopes after big win over Posta Rangers

APS Bomet delivered a commanding performance to beat Posta Rangers 3-0 and move out of the relegation zone in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday at Kasarani Annex.

The emphatic win extends APS Bomet’s impressive unbeaten run to five matches, giving the debutants renewed hope of maintaining their top-flight status.

Bomet went into the match sitting 16th with 25 points, but showed urgency from the start. Their bright opening paid off early when Maxwell Kubasu put them ahead inside the first five minutes, his dangerous cross sailing past goalkeeper Bixente Otieno.

Posta Rangers, who were playing their first match under newly appointed head coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno, tried to respond through Caleb Olilo and Eliud Lokuwam, but they failed to break through a disciplined Bomet defence.

The visitors carried their momentum into the second half and doubled their lead just two minutes after the restart. Edward Masembe scored with a well-taken free kick that deflected into the net, leaving the keeper with no chance.

With confidence growing, APS Bomet continued to dominate possession and attacking play. Their efforts paid off again in the 55th minute when Antony Naibei added the third goal to seal a comfortable victory.

Bomet nearly made it four minutes later, but Hansel Ochieng narrowly missed the target.

Despite late pressure from Posta Rangers, the APS defence, marshalled by Clifford Odhiambo, remained solid to ensure a clean sheet and maximum points.

The victory lifts APS Bomet to 14th place with 28 points, level with Ulinzi Stars, while Posta Rangers’ struggles continue as they remain under pressure in the standings.
