Homeboyz climb to third after beating Posta Rangers

Homeboyz climb to third after beating Posta Rangers

Kakamega Homeboyz boosted their title hopes with a solid 2-0 win over Posta Rangers in a Kenyan Premier League match played at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday evening.

The victory sees Homeboyz move up to third place on the table with 42 points, keeping them firmly in the race for the league title.

Homeboyz went into the match determined to close the gap on the leaders, while Posta Rangers were also confident after a strong run of form. Rangers started the game brightly, creating early chances, with Jackson Macharia coming close in the opening minutes, but his effort went just wide.

The hosts continued to push, with Oliver Maloba and Brian Yakhama combining well, but Homeboyz’s defence stayed alert to keep them out.

As the first half progressed, Homeboyz began to settle into the game and created several chances of their own. Oliver Majaka and Samuel Odaro both came close, but failed to hit the target despite good build-up play.

The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute in an unfortunate way for Posta Rangers. A long ball from Potiphar Odhiambo caused confusion in defence, and Leon David accidentally turned the ball into his own net, giving Homeboyz a 1-0 lead.

Homeboyz nearly doubled their advantage before halftime, but missed chances meant they went into the break with a narrow lead.

In the second half, both sides continued to attack, but poor finishing denied them more goals. Posta Rangers thought they had equalised late in the game, but Musa Mohamed’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Homeboyz remained calm and sealed the win in the final minutes. Eston Omengo delivered a perfect cross that was met by Rodgers Ouma, who headed home to make it 2-0 and secure all three points.

The win strengthens Kakamega Homeboyz’s push for a top finish, while Posta Rangers stay 11th after missing several chances in an otherwise competitive match.
