Harambee Stars forward Job Ochieng continued his fine form in Spain after scoring in Real Sociedad B’s 2-0 away win over Cádiz CF on Monday night.
Ochieng has now scored in back-to-back matches, underlining his growing confidence just days after committing his future to the Spanish side.
The Kenyan attacker had recently been included in the senior Real Sociedad squad during their thrilling 3-3 draw against Real Oviedo although he remained an unused substitute. He returned to action with the B team and made an immediate impact.
After netting in last week’s 2-1 victory over Málaga CF, Ochieng was again on target against Cádiz. He broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute after a well-worked move set up by Jon Balda. Seven minutes later, he was substituted, having done his job. Balda later provided another assist in stoppage time as Lander Astiazaran sealed the important win.
The victory lifted Sociedad B to 13th place on the table with 34 points after 27 matches. They will next host Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday as they look to climb further up the standings.
Ochieng’s latest goal also came shortly after the club confirmed he had extended his contract until 2028, a clear sign of faith in the Harambee Stars winger’s potential and development.
While Ochieng was celebrating in Spain, it was a difficult night in Sweden for Harambee Stars prospect Xavier Odhiambo.
The midfielder started for Landskrona BoIS but was forced off after 35 minutes as they fell 3-0 to GAISin a Svenska Cupen Round One match.
Gustav Lundgren, Salter Samuel and Ramus Niklasson all scored in the first half to hand GAIS a commanding lead they never surrendered.
Odhiambo and his teammates will now turn their focus to Saturday’s clash against IFK Norrköping, hoping to bounce back from the heavy defeat.
For Kenyan fans, it was a mixed night abroad — one star rising steadily in Spain, and another learning tough lessons in Sweden.
