World Athletics, has released the detailed criteria for qualification to the prestigious World Indoor Championship.
The move signals the beginning of serious preparations for athletes worldwide, including Kenya, as they target a place on the world stage.
Athletics Kenya (AK) has confirmed that national trials for the indoor event will be held on January 30-31, 2026 in Nairobi, where a team will be selected to represent the country in Poland.
According to World Athletics, athletes can qualify by meeting the entry standards during the qualification period (November 1, 2025 – March 8, 2026), hrough a World Indoor Tour Wild Card, or by being among the top-ranked athletes on the Top Performances list.
The entry standards include specific qualifying times and marks in various track and field events from 60m sprints to shot put.
For instance, men must clock 6.59 seconds or faster in the 60m to qualify, while women need 7.20 seconds.
AK is urging athletes to familiarise themselves with these requirements and prepare adequately, noting that all performances must be achieved at recognized events under World Athletics rules.
