Kenya’s Youth Athletics Team is back home after a successful showing at the Africa Youth Games in Angola, returning with medals and renewed hope for the country’s future in track and field.
The national youth athletics team touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday to a warm welcome after flying Kenya’s flag high at the Africa Youth Games in Luanda, Angola.
The team was officially received by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) 2nd Deputy President Nashon Randiek.
The young athletes continued Kenya’s tradition of excellence in athletics, bagging multiple medals and showing strong potential for the future.
Among the top performers were David Kapaiko and Lorna Cherono, who not only won gold in Angola but had also topped the podium earlier this year in Algeria a testament to their growing dominance on the continental stage.
With the Africa Youth Games now concluded, attention turns to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. Kenya hopes to build on this momentum as the next generation of athletics stars takes shape.
The strong showing by the youth team signals a bright future for Kenyan athletics, as preparations for global competitions gather pace.
